Birthday dessert ideas for fourth of july?

hey guys, im planning to make a red velvet cake for my mom. her birthday is july 4 and i was wondering if there was a way to make the cake part red, white, and blue. when i slice into the cake ill see all those colors like an american flag. is there a way to do this?? plz help
