What are the options for replacing a computer in a 2001 Nissan Maxima?

Used ECMs range from not bad to highly dubious. The trouble is, testing one of them fully costs nearly as much as having one rebuilt. If you can deal with the turnaround time, have the shop send off the old one and pocket the $300. (Programming is going to cost about the same either way.)
