How do you fix a cars cluster led light?

My check engine led light from my VW doesn't work. I want to see if I could fix it instead of buying a new cluster and reprogramming it. Does anyone know how I could do this without using the same amount I would use in buying a new cluster. Please help I really need to fix this!!!thanks!!!
